Meet Dr. Dana
Dr. Dana Mockenhaupt, NMD is a naturopathic medical doctor, herbalist, educator, and founder of Inspire Natural Medicine and Grounded Botanicals. Her work is rooted in a simple belief: the body is always communicating. Through symptoms, patterns, physical findings, and personal story, Dr. Dana helps patients better understand what their bodies may be asking for and how to support health from the ground up.
After earning her Bachelor's degree in Herbal Sciences and Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University, Dr. Dana remained on faculty, teaching herbalism and medicine making to undergraduate students. She later completed a rigorous two-year primary care residency in Portland, Oregon, where she expanded her clinical training and deepened her approach to whole-person care. Today, she brings together her backgrounds in medicine, herbalism, and education to help patients better understand their bodies and cultivate lasting health.
Dr. Dana's approach blends modern naturopathic medicine with traditional herbal wisdom. While laboratory testing and imaging are available when needed, she believes some of the most important clues come directly from the body itself through observation, conversation, pulse, tongue, and the unique story each person brings into the room. Her goal is not simply to manage symptoms, but to help people reconnect with their health, build resilience, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Dana is passionate about preserving herbal traditions and helping others build meaningful relationships with the natural world. Through Grounded Botanicals, educational classes, herb walks, community events, and handcrafted herbal products, she strives to make plant medicine approachable, practical, and empowering.
When she's not seeing patients or making herbal remedies, you'll likely find her in the mountains, harvesting plants, backpacking, exploring the forest, or spending time with her trusty basset hound, Fern.
